For 35 years, we have observed Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15^th through October 15^th to celebrate the rich cultures, extensive histories, and the countless contributions Latine folks have made to the U.S. and to the world. Some important dates fall within this month long celebration. Many Latin American countries celebrate the anniversary of their independence days within the first four days of the heritage month, including Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Mexico, and Chile. On October 12th, Día de la Raza celebrates the mestizo or mixed-race identity of many Latin American people. The theme for Hispanic Heritage Month in 2023 is "Todos Somos, Somos Uno: We Are All, We Are One,"  recognizing the many, varied cultures of Latin America as well as the strength that emerges from coming together as a community.
