Celebrating Indigenous Voices

Celebrating Indigenous Voices

In autumn, we seek to elevate Indigenous peoples' stories, triumphs, and truths with our Celebrating Indigenous Voices collection. From Indigenous Peoples Day on the second Monday of October through the end of Native American Heritage Month in November, we highlight a selection of titles by and about indigenous peoples. The federal recognition of both of these celebrations is inexcusably recent (Indigenous Peoples Day in 2021 and Native American Heritage Month in 1990) and are small steps in the essential project of centering the voices, histories, and interventions of the people indigenous to this land. We hope this collection, along with our permanent Indigenous Studies section, can serve as jumping-off points for study and catalysts towards material support for Indigenous peoples.
