We have extended our STORE HOURS!
Monday 8:30am-9pm, Tuesday-Saturday 8:30am-10pm, Sunday 10am-9pm
We celebrate Juneteenth by looking toward the future with hope, honoring the tensions of the present moment, and acknowledging the realities of history through the books gathered here. We observe the end of slavery in the United States. through a combination of non-fiction and historical fiction books. We honor that we must continue to make progress before racial equity is a reality in this country. A selection of essays, nonfiction, and poetry speaks to the current moment of racial reckoning. Lastly, we seek to imagine a liberated future without racial oppression, which is represented through works of Afrofuturism, science fiction, and a collection of young adult and middle grades children's literature. We recognize that the rich legacy of the African Diaspora extends far into the past: African peoples have histories that were born eras before colonization and the Atlantic slave trade began. Join us in lifting up the resilience, beauty, and strength of a people who, despite all they endure, continue to shine brightly.
