As immigration and refugee crises intensify around the globe, stories of journeys, history, exile, and arrival are very much on our minds. 

Throughout March, we'll be fundraising to support Boston's Rian Immigrant Center, whose vital work on behalf of immigrants and refugees is inspired by the Irish tradition of welcoming the stranger. Rian has inspired us, in turn, to create this collection of essential writing about migration from around the world — powerful voices that open our eyes and deepen our sense of shared humanity. Rian's staff, partnering with us to promote this online and in-store display, have dubbed Booksmith a "caol áit" — in Irish, a "thin place," where earth is close to heaven. Please join us in this special space to honor Rian and to hear the voices in these affecting and important books.
