Do you like hugs? They’re just not Doug’s thing. “Doug thinks hugs are: Too squeezy, too squashy, too smooshy, too squooshy.” There are plenty of things Doug does like, though: his rock, sock, or chalk collections, for instance. Or playing the harmonica. Or any kind of high five imaginable—high, low, double, side, elbow…Doug’s mastered them all! With whimsical prose and upbeat illustrations, Don’t Hug Doug: (He Doesn't Like It) celebrates all the ways we can connect while respecting personal boundaries.
Carrie Finison writes picture books with humor and heart, including Dozens of Doughnuts (2020), Don’t Hug Doug (2021), and the forthcoming Hurry, Little Tortoise, and Lulu & Zoey (2022). She lives outside of Boston with her husband, son, and daughter, and two cats who allow her to work in their cozy attic office.
