Join us for a reading and discussion on the topic of reproductive justice, featuring authors Anna Hogeland, Grace Talusan, Anita Diamant and Michelle Bowdler. This event will serve as a fundraiser for the Center for Reproductive Rights.

Throughout 8/12, Brookline Booksmith will be collecting donations to the Center for Reproductive Rights at our registers. You may also give directly to the organization at this link. A $20 donation is recommended, but a donation of any size is welcome.

Participating Authors

Michelle Bowdler is the author of Is Rape a Crime? A Memoir, an Investigation and a Manifesto, longlisted for the National Book Award in Nonfiction . Anita Hill said of Bowdler's debut, "Is Rape a Crime? is beautifully written and compellingly told. In 2020, we were all looking for solutions and this book was right on time. It is one we should all be reading."

Anita Diamant is the author of thirteen books, most recently Period. End of Sentence. The New Chapter in the Fight for Menstrual Justice. Her first novel, New York Times bestseller The Red Tent, has been published in more than 25 countries. Her other novels include The Boston GirlDay after NightThe Last Days of Dogtown, and Good Harbor. Diamant is the author of six non-fiction guides to contemporary Jewish life and a collection of essays, Pitching my Tent. An award-winning journalist, her work has appeared in the Boston Globe MagazineReal SimpleParentingBoston Magazine and WBUR’s online magazine, Cognoscenti.

Anna Hogeland is a psychotherapist in private practice, with an MSW from Smith College School of Social Work and an MFA from UC Irvine. The Long Answer is her debut novel.

Grace Talusan's memoir, The Body Papers, won the Massachusetts Book Award in nonfiction, the Restless Books Prize for New Immigrant Writing, and was a New York Times Editors' Choice selection. She taught writing for many years at Tufts University and Grub Street, and is currently the Fannie Hurst Writer-in-Residence at Brandeis University.
