Event address:

We are proud to be the official booksellers for this Temple Israel event.

Temple Israel and the Frances Jacobson Early Childhood Center are delighted to be co-hosting Israeli artist Hanoch Piven the weekend of March 17-18, 2023. Piven is an award-winning illustrator, educator and seasoned “creative instigator,” whose artwork is unique in both form and methodology. By reinventing the meaning and use of everyday objects he forges associations between these and the subject of his creation. Piven’s art is playful, inclusive and transformative.

Piven’s new book Dream Big, Laugh Often… and more Great Advice from the Bible, co-authored by Torah Scholar Shira Hecht-Keller, imagines what advice 14 different Bible characters would have given, paired with portraits brought to life with Piven’s joyful and clever art made from found objects, including Abraham and Sarah, Moses and Miriam, David and Deborah and more.

Hanoch Piven will lead a teaching during Qabbalat Shabbat on Friday, March 17 to kick off our weekend of hands-on workshops, text study, and creative learning for all ages.
